But you can think of me as your business bestie. I'm here to help you ditch doubt and take confident action to create a business (and life!) you love.
Hey there, friend!
How’s your day going? I hope it’s as wonderful as the view outside my window. There’s something magical about this time of year, isn’t there? The vibrant greenery, the blossoming flowers—it’s like nature is inviting us to embrace renewal and change. But amidst the beauty of spring, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. As we dive into today’s episode, I want to share four helpful tips to navigate those moments when you feel like you’re in over your head.
#1 You have more control than you think you do.
First off, let’s talk about control. When life throws us curveballs, it’s natural to feel powerless, like we’re just reacting to circumstances beyond our control. But here’s the truth: you have more control than you think. Whether it’s your business, your relationships, or your health, remember that you’re the one steering the ship. Take a step back, breathe, and remind yourself of your agency in the situation. You’re not at the mercy of life’s whims—you are 100% in control of your thoughts, feelings, actions and results. It may be hard to realized this when you are in the thick of it, but you can start by asking yourself, “If I were in control of this situation, what would I do differently?”
#2 This is temporary.
Next up, let’s address the elephant in the room: this too shall pass. It can be annoying when people say this — but it’s true. Whatever you’re facing, no matter how daunting it may seem, remember that it’s temporary. Just like the changing seasons, life is filled with cycles of growth and transition. So, if you’re knee-deep in deadlines, commitments, or challenges, take heart knowing that brighter days are on the horizon. And if you’re struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel, lean on faith and trust that there’s a purpose to every season of life.
#3 You don’t have to do everything perfectly.
Now, let’s tackle the perfectionism trap. Raise your hand if you’ve ever set impossibly high standards for yourself, only to feel like you’re constantly falling short. It’s time to let go of the myth of perfection and embrace the beauty of imperfection. You don’t have to do everything, and you certainly don’t have to do it perfectly. Ask yourself where you are striving for an A+ where a B- would be just fine — and greatly reduce your stress. It’s also helpful to define what success actually looks like when you feel in over your head. It might surprise you how much unnecessary mental, physical, and emotional energy you are expending.
#4 You are not alone.
Lastly, remember that you don’t have to go it alone. God is always with you and will guide you. Tell Him what you are struggling with. Ask Him what He wants you focusing on and doing in this season of life. I love what 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” Although we grow weary, He never does.
Isaiah 40:28-31 encourages us by saying, “The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t hesitate to lean on your support network or seek guidance from a trusted mentor or coach.
Friend, if you’re feeling like you’re in over your head, know that you’re not alone. By reclaiming your sense of control, embracing the temporary nature of life’s challenges, letting go of perfectionism, and seeking support when needed, you can navigate even the stormiest seas with grace and resilience.
