But you can think of me as your business bestie. I'm here to help you ditch doubt and take confident action to create a business (and life!) you love.
Recently, my two daughters and I had the thrilling experience of attending the US Women’s Gymnastics Championship. It was an incredible opportunity to watch top athletes like Simone Biles in action. My youngest daughter was so captivated that she didn’t want to miss a single moment. It was a great reminder of the power of dedication and striving for excellence. This summer, we’ll definitely be glued to the Olympics!
One common thread among all these amazing athletes is that they all have coaches. Coaches play a crucial role in helping athletes achieve their best, and the same principle applies to our personal and professional lives. Whether it’s about improving your business, health, family, or relationships, working with a coach can be transformative. Interestingly, focusing on one area with a coach often brings benefits to other areas of your life too.
Now, while working with a life coach can be life-changing, it’s important to ask yourself four key questions before diving into a coaching relationship. Let’s explore these questions together.
It’s not necessary for you and your coach to agree on everything. However, sharing similar core values and beliefs can make the coaching relationship more effective. For instance, as a Christian coach, I find that working with clients who share my faith allows me to use additional tools like scripture and prayer. It’s crucial to consider how important shared values are for you in a coaching relationship. If faith or specific beliefs are significant to you, finding a coach who aligns with those can deepen the connection and understanding between you.
Having a life coach is immensely rewarding, but it requires effort and commitment. It’s like having a best friend who knows all the answers, guiding you towards a happier, more fulfilled life. However, it’s not always easy. Coaching sessions often involve deep reflection and addressing areas that might be uncomfortable. Are you ready to be brave, to commit to the process, and to prioritize this important but non-urgent work? Being honest about your readiness will set the stage for meaningful progress.
Honesty is essential in a coaching relationship. You need to feel comfortable sharing your true thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. This openness allows the coach to help you effectively. Reflect on whether you can be completely honest with the coach you’re considering. Do you trust them? Do you feel safe being vulnerable with them? The ability to be open and truthful will significantly impact the success of your coaching journey.
Belief in your coach’s ability to help you is fundamental. Regardless of their credentials or experience, if you don’t believe they can assist you, it’s unlikely you’ll fully engage in the process. Skepticism can lead to half-hearted efforts and resistance, hindering your progress. Before committing to a coach, ask yourself if you truly believe in their capacity to support and guide you. If the answer is no, it will be difficult to for the coach to provide and for you to receive the support you need.
These questions are not just for you to answer alone; they’re also great topics to discuss during an initial session with a coach. In my introductory unstuck session, for example, we assess various areas of your life and identify where you feel stuck. This session provides a breakthrough and helps determine if we’re a good fit for continued work together.
If you’ve been struggling to make progress on your goals due to fear, doubt, or perfectionism — or if you just want to experience the power of coaching, I invite you to book an Unstuck Session with me. Visit fruitionmindset.com/unstuck to secure your spot.
